THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY OF HEADIES AWARDS 2014

The Headies 2014, formerly known as Hip-Hop World Awards staged on Sunday, December 14,2014, at Expo Hall of Eko Hotel & Suites, on Victoria Island, Lagos, lived up to its billing, attracting music's most important faces and a sprinkle of actors.

                                                    THE RED CARPET

The traditional Headies Red Carpet went on with all of its Glamour and endless razzmatazz.

The Paparazzi and all shades of the media feasted on popular guests. Those who pretended not to be stars were tactfully ignored.

                                                      THE COCKTAILS

There was also cocktail to entertain guests before they were ushered into the expansive and prestigious Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos, venue of the awards. And serving mainly fruit drinks, they provided enough appetizers for the light refreshments that came later.

                                                          ROLL CALL
Ayiri Emami, JJ Okocha, Funke Akindele, Senator Florence Ita Giwa, Kunle Afolayan,Tony Okoroji, Sir. Dr. Victor Uwaifo, Nedu, AY, Sarah Ofili, Olu Maintain, Kemi Lala Akindoju, Toyin Lawani etal.

WHY THE SHOW DID NOT KICK OFF ON TIME

The event was met with various impediments as the organizers not only appeared confused but also unable to coordinate their affairs properly to ensure hitch free show.

The show billed to commence at 9pm did not start till 11:45pm. The reason was due to technical hiccups the organizers battled.

ABOUT THE HOST BASKETMOUTH AND TOKE MAKINWA

The comperes for the night, Ace Comedian, Basketmouth and On-Air- Personality, Toke Makinwa were obviously at their best

Not only were they able to coordinate the Awards Ceremony properly, they engaged the audience throughout the show with different kinds vibes which added frenzy to the event.

Like when Toke instructed the DJ to give some nice tunes and she started digging it down by doing some Shoki, Etigi, Azonto, and Skelewu moves. It was really hilarious as she held the crowd spellbound.

Basketmouth on his own part crack some expensive jokes. He took shots at Wande Coal's past 'unclothed' situation and jokingly mocked Aki And Pawpaw size.

DJ LAMBO ON THE WHEEL OF STEELS

The DJ for the night was DJ Lambo who commandeered the turntable as she dished out melodious tunes to suit every programme of the event. And of course being masters of the art, her repertoire of songs was on point.

                                                KETCHUP CREATE A SCENE

The Wanna be Celebrity stormed the Red Carpet with a pet

                                           JHYBO IN THE BUILDING

The fast-rising act, Jhybo who has been absent from the music scene for a while now, stepped out at the Headies and he opened up on what made him disappear into oblivion.

According him, ' Have been having issues with my record label, so I need to sort myself out ' He divulged at the headies red carpet.

THE HKN GANG FAMILY AND THEIR SWAGGA

The HKN Gang family, comprising Davido, Shina Rambo, B-Red, etal, really showed the swagga in their kitty.

They all stormed the stage when Davido was announced as the winner of the Best song of the year and Artiste of the year respectively.

                                          WHO PERFORMED @ THE AWARDS
Quite a number of artistes were in attendance but very few were pencilled to perform. These great singers were all at their best as they thrilled guests with hit songs from their albums.

Those who performed were Reekado Banks, Kcee, Harrysong, Nikky Laoye, Cynthia Morgan, Skales, Dr. Sid and Don Jazzy, Yemi Alade, Patoranking, Runtown, Wiizy Pro, Lil Kesh, etal.

DAKORE AKANDE AND HUBBY STEPS OUT

Star actress, Dakore Akande was a cynosure of all eyes at the event as she stepped in with her very wealthy and adorable husband, Olumide who looked stylish.

The sexy actress drew attention with her very stunning looks.

However, her husband lost it in between the razzmatazz when he was interviewed by Julius Agwu on the red carpet how he feels when other men appreciates his wife in his presence and his response was thus;
" People maybe admiring my wife but na me dey enter the place". Some were of the opinion that his statement was so unrefined and uncalled for.

                                                  BATTLE OF THE CLEAVAGE
At the recently concluded Headies awards, it was clear that there was a war going on... and it wasn't for awards.

Everywhere there were boobs on parade..... Squeezed, pushed, reined in and hoisted within an inch of their lives.

It would appear that boobs on parade is fast becoming the norm and they come in all shapes and sizes and states of exposure.

Some of the celebrities that flaunt their boobs were Popular Beat FM On- Air- Personality, Tolu ' Toolz ' Oniru, Cynthia Morgan amongst others.

                                             DAVIDO STEPS OUT WITH LOVER
Skelewu crooner, Davido stepped out  with his lover at the Headies 2014. There was no doubt they are in love with the way they stepped into the hall and later settled down for the business of the day.

The lady seems to be a known face among the high profile guests in attendance. She was on her feet exchanging greetings before she and Davido and other HKN Gangs left after the show.

                                                     TRIBUTE TO LATE ICONS

One thing that was very significant and stood the event out as one in a class of its own was the tribute to Lates Kefee, Father U Turn, Dagrin, MC Loph, Godie, the industry has lost. It really shows families, friends, Fans that their respective favourite artistes legacy lives on.

                CELEBRITY STYLIST, LILIAN UNACHUKWU GOOFS

Nobody knew that Wizkid was at the event. He came in very late and stood alone outside.

Few minutes later, he stumbled out of the venue.

Tubaba who won the first award of the night, Best R n B single, could not make it to the venue before the show ended as we learnt he had some more pressing issues to attend to.

However, his wife, Annie Idibia received the plaque on his behalf.

SIR DR. VICTOR UWAIFO WAS HONOURED

Veteran Highlife Musician, Sir Dr. Victor Uwaifo, was at the event. The self acclaimed Guitar boy who sat at the front enjoying the show was honoured with a life Time Achievement Award for his contribution to the music industry.

K1 The Ultimate, presented the plaque to the living legend

SEAN TIZZLE GOT A BIRTHDAY GIFT

Fast-rising act, Sean Tizzle clinched the award for the Best R n B Pop Album. His huge transformation as a better singer has really helped him and he keeps churning out hit after hits with his cool " Videos " to go with them.

Before he stepped off stage after receiving his plaque, his producer . D-TUNES urge the crowd to wish the highly revered musician happy bithday cos is birthday clash with the event.

                                          ORITSE FEMI GINGER THE CROWD

When Oritse Femi mounted the stage to receive his plaque for the Best Street Hop, he didn't just want to receive his plaque, he performed his hit single ' Double Wahala ' with his usual twist which was overwhelming.

BETWEEN TIMI DAKOLO AND WIFE, BUSOLA

                              POPULAR OAP, TOSIN BUCKNOR DAZZLED
The popular Top Radio OAP, Tosin Bucknor has really upped her style and it's really working for her. Lately she has been spotted at events looking posh and elegant, and it seems her stylist has been doing a lot of transformation for the highly revered OAP.

                                     CELEBRITIES WHO PRESENTED AWARDS

K1 The Ultimate, Pasuma, Gbenro Ajibade, Toolz, Ouch, Annie Idibia, DJ Exclusive, Beverly Osu, Tosin Bucknor, etal.

                           BASKETMOUTH DECLARED JIDE SIPE WANTED

The stylish comedian in his comical manner declared Mr. Jide Sipe wanted. He said the dude is owning him some money for a while now.

                      PATORANKING MOTIVATING SPEECH

Alubarica crooner, Patoranking who won the coveted Next Rated Award that comes with a brand new Hyundai had the best speech of the night when he got on stage to receive his plaque and the key to the car.

According to him; “When I sang, when I moved from nothing to something, that is my story. I meant it.
I would like to say something..... 2 years ago, I was living in a room, now, I'm living somewhere around ' Lekki '.

If I tell you say I be dey sell rat killer, you go believe? If I tell you say I DO bricklayer for Lagos you go believe? Don't let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams." he squealed

                                       DAVIDO SERENADES THE GUESTS

One of the most scintillating performances of the night came from Pop star, Davido and the choice of the crooner is his hit song, Aye. Unlike at other outings, Davido played with a live band and as soon as he was done, he disappeared through the back stage.

                                                  OLAMIDE GETS DRUNK

Olamide performed his hit single ' Eleda Mi '. He received a standing ovation for the wonderful performance.
However, that doesn't change the fact that the self-acclaimed Baddo was drunk. His disposition on stage during his performance and after made it glaring that is drunk.

He said stuffs like  Lil Kesh is the Rookie of the year,  fuck that shit " he squealed.

Some were of the opinion that he stylishly diss the organizers of Headies for not including Lil Kesh in the Rookie category cos is so glaring that assuming he's in that category, he's gonno walked home with the plaque.

                                       TOKE MAKINWA AND YANSH PAD

Without mincing words, Fashionista, Toke Makinwa dazzles in over five different outfits she rocked at the headies. However, Olofofo at the backstage of the event whispered www.juicyonline.com that the party freak OAP, wore a padded butt to enhance her curve and also to help the different outfits she experiment on in the course of the show sits well on her.

P-SQUARE ROUNDED OFF THE EVENT WITH MIND BLOWING     PERFORMANCE

When it seemed the show is over, P-Square lit up the stage with their wonderful performance.
They got a standing ovation from the crowd.

                                 TO BE NOTED!
The organizers of Headies created room for the delay of the Awards. Kicking off more than four hours behind schedule if one takes into account the original take off time of 9pm, it was evitable for the award ceremonies to drag till the wee hours of Monday. It would be nice for Headies to stick to their time so that the awards can start and end in good time.
This, however, did not blight the glamour and enthsiasm the awards promoted as our own Grammys generated.
